As a journalism student, I have spent time looking at scroll stories from various publications like the Associated Press and the New York Times. So, going into this project, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted my project to look like.
News deserts are a huge issue in the U.S., so I stuck with a red, white, and blue theme. I did opt to lighten the colors and make them less vibrant because, to me, that reminds me of the softer, more muted colors that you would see on a traditional newspaper. For my typeface, I went with something I thought you would find in a traditional print publication to keep on theme.
